What's Coming Up?
Hello Good Shepherd hikers, our March hike on Sunday, March 8, will celebrate the return of Daylight Saving Time. We'll meet at the Whipple Bridge on Riverview Road at 1 PM to continue exploring the Vischer Ferry Preserve. Whipple Bridge Entrance: This entrance features the historic farmers' bridge, visible from Riverview Road. A small pull-off parking area is directly across from the intersection of Riverview Road and VanVranken Road.
This hike will be another with no elevation gain, totaling about 3 miles. We'll go east along the canal to the remains of the old canal dry dock and views of the Mohawk River. Then, for variety, we'll loop back to the bridge by following the trail on the north side of the canal. Total mileage will be 2.5 to 3 miles.
If there is still snow on the ground, microspikes, yaktrax, or snowshoes will be helpful.
