Hello! If you've resolved to get outdoors this winter, a Good Shepherd hike is a good place to begin. For our January hike, we'll be exploring the Mooney Carrese Forest trails at the Clifton Park Elks Club.
We'll head out at 1 PM on Sunday, January 18, from the parking lot at the trailhead (turn off MacElroy Road onto Elk Trail to find it). We will walk the Yellow Trail for a round-trip of about 2 miles. This trail runs through a pretty forest, with a few small hills and boardwalks over wet areas. Depending on the snow cover, snowshoes or traction devices (Yaktrax or microspikes) may be necessary. If anyone is ready for a longer walk in the woods, we can continue on the Orange Trail for another .7-mile loop.
More specific information will be sent closer to the hike date. We're looking forward to hiking with you in the winter woods.
Call Richard's cell phone at 518-380-3303 if you plan to join us.
